3 students die in Capiz road mishap

ILOILO CITY, Philippines — Three high school students were killed when their motorcycle crashed into a bus in Tapaz, Capiz on Tuesday.

The fatalities were identified as John Lester Pimentel, 16, and Kenneth Galagate, 17, both residents of Barangay Cristina, and Ian Razel Gregorio, 15, of Barangay Initan. They were pronounced dead on arrival in a hospital.

Senior Inspector Edwin Luces, Tapaz police chief, said Gregorio was driving the motorcycle owned by the family of Galagate.

The accident occurred at around 2:15 p.m. along a bypass road in Barangay Poblacion.

The driver of the Ceres bus, Renata Sobreguel, surrendered to responding police officers.

Luces said no one among the victims wore helmets and had a driver’s license.
