MANILA, Philippines — Six people were arrested and P4.2 million worth of marijuana were seized in a sting at an apartment building in Quezon City on Monday.

Members of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) seized 35 kilos of marijuana on the seventh floor of the building along Denver street in Barangay Immaculate Concepcion at around 8 p.m.

Director Guillermo Eleazar, chief of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said Grenie Heirro, 34; Lassery Ann Rayo, 30; Anthony John Timpug, 30; Archie Visperas, 22; Randbel Clifford Venzon, 20, and a 16-year-old male.

The suspects were under surveillance after a concerned citizen informed police about the group’s illegal activities, he said.

“There was a conspiracy in the selling of marijuana,” he said in a  television interview.

According to their investigation, Eleazar said the suspects bought the drugs from the provinces of Kalinga and Apayao to sell to their customers in Metro Manila.

Five of the suspects are facing charges of violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. The minor was turned over to city social workers.

Nineteen other drug suspects were arrested in police operations in the city in the past two days. Six more were arrested in Pasig and five in a sting at the Pinaligad dump in Valenzuela. – With Non Alquitran, Marc Jayson Cayabyab
