BI nabs Chinese over fake passport

Jose Rodel Clapano - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A Chinese woman was arrested Tuesday for allegedly using a fake Philippine passport, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said Friday.

Cai Nongnong, who was born on Dec. 15, 1989, reportedly used a passport under the name of Lui Jasmin Tan indicating she was born in China on Feb. 26, 1987, according to the BI’s Intelligence Division.

Sources said Cai was a student visa holder and later obtained a Filipino passport.

Cai is suspected of helping Chinese citizens who arrive in the country get a fake working visa in order to work in online gaming firms.

She reportedly applied for accreditation with the BI to push her operation to acquire working visas.

The BI is conducting a follow-up operation to arrest Cai’s accomplices.
