Floirendo’s Thailand, Singapore trip OK’d
MANILA, Philippines — The Sandiganbayan has allowed Davao del Norte Rep. Antonio Floirendo Jr. to travel to Singapore and Thailand for a weeklong medical checkup.
The anti-graft court’s sixth division cited the ”need and urgency” in granting Floirendo’s request despite the objection of the Office of the Ombudsman.
Floirendo said he would undergo medical checkup at the Cheng Jun Gastroenterology and Medical Clinic in Singapore on Aug. 23 and TICEBA GmbH and Miskawaan Health Group in Bangkok from Aug. 25 to 27.
Floirendo promised to return to the country upon completion of his medical procedures. His previous travel bond was re-offered.
The Sandiganbayan said Floirendo should report to the court upon his return to the country on Aug. 28.
Floirendo is facing graft charges in connection with an alleged questionable joint venture agreement between the Bureau of Corrections and Tagum Agricultural Development Co., which his family owns.
