Trillanes dares Duterte, family: 'Take drug test'
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV yesterday challenged President Duterte and the members of his family to take a drug test just to prove that they are not taking any illegal drug.
In separate posts on his social media accounts, Trillanes posted the result of drug test he took last July 30 at the Senate, which showed negative results for the five types of illegal drugs covered.
Trillanes was among the senators and Senate employees who underwent random drug testing last month. The test was supervised by the Department of Health.
“Kailan kaya magpapa drug test ang mga Dutertes (When will the Dutertes undergo drug tests)?” Trillanes said.
Trillanes has accused the family of Duterte, specifically his son, former Davao City vice mayor Paolo Duterte, of being involved in the illegal drug trade.
He claimed that the former vice mayor facilitated the entry and release of P6.4 billion worth of shabu from China in May 2017.
The younger Duterte has filed a case of libel against Trillanes in response to his assertions.
Trillanes said Paolo has been involved in the illegal drug trade even when his father was still mayor of Davao City.
Apart from accusing them of being involved in the illegal drug trade, Trillanes has also alleged that the President and his family amassed over P1 billion, which they did not declare in their statements of assets, liabilities and net worth.
