2 militiamen, pregnant woman slain in ambush

NORTH COTABATO  , Philippines  —  Two militiamen were killed in an ambush in Pikit town on Monday, with a pregnant woman, also fatally hit by a stray bullet.

Richard Wacan and Ronald Lachica were driving their motorcycles on their way to a detachment of the Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit when they were waylaid.

Their companion Dante Boboy Jr., also a militiaman, was seriously wounded.

Superintendent Aldrin Gonzalez, Soccksargen police spokesman, identified the pregnant woman as Hasna Kusa, who died while being treated in a hospital.

Probers have yet to determine the perpetrators and motive for the killing.
