Cops rescue 2 siblings trapped in floods
MANILA, Philippines — Police rescued two daughters of an overseas Filipino worker who were trapped in floodwaters at the height of Typhoon Karding in Pasig City on Sunday.
Neizelyn de Belen and her sister Lawrence Joy were rescued from their house at Doroteo Village in Barangay Santolan, Eastern Police District director Senior Superintendent Bernabe Balba said.
Police said they received a message from Nestor de Belen, who works in Qatar, saying that his two daughters were trapped in floodwaters at their house.
Balba said he deployed a rescue team that evacuated the siblings to safer grounds.
Body found?in Pasig River
Meanwhile in Manila, the body of an unidentified man was found floating in Pasig River yesterday morning.
Senior Inspector Rommel Anicete, head of the Manila Police District homicide unit, said the victim was fished out near Gate 2 at the Parola Compound in Binondo at around 4:45 a.m.
The victim was clad in a white t-shirt and underwear. The names “Lito Carlo Alonzo,” “Rannie” and “Dodoy Gato” were tattooed on his body.
Police said the victim bore no signs of external injuries and could have drowned at the height of heavy rains. – Rey Galupo
