Gilbert Bayoran - The Philippine Star

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A drug suspect believed to be behind a P72-million shabu haul in Negros Occidental last week, his wife and two children were reportedly taken by armed men at their residence in Calatrava town.

Ronnie Recomo, alias Potot; his wife Cherryl and their children were snatched on Monday last week, a sister of Recomo said yesterday.

Lorna Alburo asked why authorities are accusing her brother-in-law, saying he and his family members had been missing since two days before the drug sting.

Police said the shabu haul in Barangay Palampas in San Carlos was the biggest not only in Negros Occidental but also in the entire Western Visayas.

Dave Garcia, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Western Visayas spokesman, insisted that Recomo along with his alleged cohorts Armando Paracuelles and wife Jocelyn managed to escape during the drug bust.

Garcia said they are not aware of the reported kidnapping of Recomo and his family.

“I don’t understand why we are being questioned by their relatives... They should ask themselves why a member of their family was present during a drug transaction,” he said.
