Drug surrenderee in Duterte’s watchlist slain; P6.2-million shabu seized
MANILA, Philippines — A drug suspect in President Duterte’s watchlist was killed by unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants in Barangay Nanguneg, Narvacan, Ilocos Sur on Thursday.
Abraham Cabuena, 49, was driving his motorcycle in Barangay Cagayungan when he was shot at around 10 a.m.
Police said Cabuena, who yielded under Oplan Tokhang in 2016, recently attended a community drug rehabilitation program.
Meanwhile, 21 sachets of shabu weighing 85 grams with an estimated street value of P1.2 million and 515 grams worth P6.27 million were recovered in drug raids in Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
Earlier this week, more than six kilos of shabu worth P73.4 million were recovered in drug busts in the cities of San Carlos and Bacolod. Police said it was the biggest shabu haul not only in the province but also in the entire Western Visayas.
In Bulacan, 44 sachets of shabu were recovered from 28 persons arrested during drug stings in the last two days, according to Senior Superintendent Chito Bersaluna, acting Bulacan police director. – Jun Elias, Ramon Efren Lazaro, Gilbert Bayoran
