Bato dela Rosa on running for governor: 'Duterte has final say'

MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte would have the final say in the plan of Bureau of Corrections (Bucor) chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa to run in the 2019 polls.

“Let us wait for the final decision of the President,” Dela Rosa said in Filipino in an interview aired on radio dzMM Thursday.

Dela Rosa said Duterte told him to aim for a gubernatorial post instead of a seat in the Senate, noting his rankings in surveys.

Dela Rosa recently transferred his voter’s registration to Santa Cruz town in Davao del Sur, where he plans to run for governor in the 2019 midterm elections, according to earlier reports.

A Pulse Asia survey last June showed that Dela Rosa placed seventh among potential candidates for senator.
