MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau on Sunday said the southwest monsoon or "habagat" continues to be the most dominant weather system in the country.

PAGASA weather specialist Meno Mendoza said the southwest monsoon is currently affecting southern Luzon and Visayas.

Due to this, Mendoza said Mimaropa (Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) would experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorm.

He added that Luzon would have fair weather but there is a possibility of light to moderate rains.

Meanwhile, Mendoza said they are monitoring a shallow low pressure area spotted 1,335 kilometer east of Appari, Cagayan.

PAGASA said this LPA is not expected to intensify into a typhoon and will have no direct effect in the country. — Rosette Adel
