3 Makati barangays cleared of drugs

MANILA, Philippines — Three barangays in Makati City were cleared of illegal drugs after successfully complying with the parameters set by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for declaring “drug-cleared barangays.”

 Mayor Abby Binay said Barangays Forbes Park and Magallanes were declared “drug-cleared” while Barangay San Lorenzo reached the “drug-free” status, which means surpassing the drug-cleared level. 

 Barangay Urdaneta was declared drug-free on Feb. 13. 

 Under Dangerous Drugs Board Regulation No. 3, Series of 2017, a barangay is drug-free if there is no supply of illegal drugs, no illegal drug trade and no illegal drug den or warehouse in the community, among others. 

 A barangay can also be declared drug-free if barangay officials are active in the campaign against illegal drugs by conducting drug awareness, preventive education and information drives.
