Immigration to deport, ban two foreigners with fake papers
MANILA, Philippines — Two foreigners found to have been in the Philippines using fraudulent travel documents will be barred from coming back, the Bureau of Immigration said on Monday.
In a statement, the Immigration said that its agents arrested Liberian Frederick Buchester (53) and Indian Ravinder Kumar (30), as they were about to leave the country, for using counterfeit documents.
Buchester was using a fake Liberian passport while Kumar allegedly used a fake Canadian visa.
Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente ordered summary deportation proceedings against the two foreigners. They will also be put in the bureau’s blacklist, which will bar them from returning.
It was learned that Buchester was arrested on July 15, as he was about to leave for Belgium. Immigration agents found that the biopage of his passport was spurious.
Kumar, meanwhile, was a transit passenger. He was supposed to board his flight to Canada, but agents learned that his passport was fraudulent.
The Immigration said that they are looking into the possiblility that the two froeigners' trips “were again facilitated by syndicates that have been trying to use Manila as a transit point for smuggling illegal aliens to other countries.” — Kristine Joy Patag
