MANILA, PHILIPPINES — A new low pressure area near Batangas was spotted, which will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon, state weather bureau PAGASA said Friday morning.

The LPA was last seen 60 kilometers west of Ambulong, Batangas.

The new weather system will further the southwest monsoon, which continues to bring rains over the western parts of Luzon and Visayas.

Residents of Palawan, Mindoro and Western Visayas will experience scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms caused by the southwest monsoon.

Partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers caused by localized thunderstorms, meanwhile, will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

PAGASA also said that Typhoon Jongdari remained outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility and continued to move northeast away from the country. — Philstar.com intern Ali Ian Marcelino Biong
