Bomb maker shot dead in Zamboanga del Norte
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A suspected bomb maker was killed in an alleged shootout with law enforcers serving a search warrant for illegal possession of explosives at his house in Sitio Tabuk Suba, Barangay Poblacion West, Salug, Zamboanga del Norte on Thursday night.
Benhar Lendit Muksan, alias Bin-bin, tried to escape and opened fire when cornered at a road blockade, Chief Superintendent Edwin de Ocampo, Zamboanga peninsula police deputy director, said.
Authorities said they recovered a hand grenade, bomb materials, camouflage uniforms of the Moro National Liberation Front and the military, a 357 Magnum revolver, ammunition and three sachets of shabu from the fatality.
De Ocampo said they have yet to determine which terrorist or criminal group Muksan is affiliated with.
