Sara Duterte to support Bong Go’s Senate bid
MANILA, Philippines — Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte will endorse Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go if he decides to run for the Senate.
At the mass oathtaking of members of the Hugpong ng Pagbabago party in Compostela Valley on Thursday, Carpio said it is too early for Go to decide, but if ever he pushes through with his senatorial bid, she will give her 100 percent support.
Go thanked Carpio for her endorsement, but said it is too early to talk about politics.
“Thank you to Mayor Inday and Hugpong ng Pagbabago. But I’m not interested in running for senator,” Go said.
Go attended the blessing, unveiling of marker and groundbreaking of the new city hall building in Digos, Davao del Sur after the oathtaking.
He also accompanied private individuals and businessmen who donated relief goods and housing materials to families affected by a recent fire in Barangay Sasa and flooding spawned by monsoon rains in Bucana both in Davao City.
In an interview with reporters, Go said he did not allow anyone to put his name or face in tarpaulins and billboards.
“I would like to thank my supporters as well as those of President Duterte. But I think it’s better if the money they will spend for putting up billboards be given to victims of calamities instead,” he said.
