2 missing fishermen rescued off Surigao Sur

BUTUAN CITY – Two fishermen reported missing on Wednesday were rescued off the coast of Barabo, Surigao del Sur on Saturday, according to the Philippine Coast Guard.

The PCG office in Surigao del Sur said Dennis Dumagtoy, 33, and Joliven Dacera, 28, both residents of General Luna town, joined a group of fishermen who sailed toward the Pacific Ocean, but failed to return home on Friday.

Dumagtoy and Dacera were rescued by another group of fishermen, who brought them to Barabo.

The boat of the two fishermen capsized after it encountered mechanical problem amid strong waves, a PCG report showed.
