Ghio Ong - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Taguig City councilor who was arrested in a sting in Parañaque for alleged possession of Ecstasy tablets tested negative for drugs, police said yesterday.

Richard Paul Jordan underwent drug testing by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Saturday night.

Jordan tested negative for drug use, a police official who requested not to be named said.

Police, however, said it would not affect the charges of illegal possesion of drugs, theft and malicious mischief filed against Jordan before the Parañaque City prosecutor’s office.

The suspect was arrested after police allegedly found in his possession 31 Ecstasy tablets and P22,000 worth of items, which he supposedly stole from a casino-hotel on July 3.

21 drug suspects fall

At least 21 persons were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in the past two days.

In Quezon City, 18 drug suspects were apprehended by police.

Three suspected drug pushers were collared in Marikina and Mandaluyong.

Meanwhile in Taguig, three women were shot dead by motorcycle-riding assailants.

Police said they have yet to identify the fatalities.

Authorities said they were investigating if the killings were drug-related. – Romina Cabrera, Non Alquitran
