5 nabbed for plastic resin theft in Valenzuela

Marc Jayson Cayabyab - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Two of the suspects – maintenance machinist Joselito Osias and security guard Ermerlino Amante – face charges of qualified theft for letting in three of their cohorts – Joseph Magdalera, Nicole Macalua and Mark John Macula – to steal the sacks of virgin resin, chemicals used to manufacture plastic, with a total value of P140,800.

The security guard allowed the suspects to sneak into Philippine Val-Plas Packaging Corp. in Lawang Bato and let in the cargo truck where the sacks of virgin resin were loaded, Valenzuela police chief investigator Chief Inspector Rhoderick Juan said yesterday.

After an employee reported the theft, police flagged down the van along Centro street, where the suspects were arrested after failing to show any legal document to travel.

The suspects faced inquest proceedings on charges of  qualified theft and theft before the city prosecutor’s office.
