Albayalde leads ride for children with cancer
MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Oscar Albayalde yesterday led a motorycle ride aimed at raising funds to help children with cancer.
More than 300 motorcycle riders participated in the campaign dubbed, “Ride against cancer with chief Oca,” from the PNP headquarters at Camp Crame in Quezon City to Pampanga and back to Rizal Park in Manila.
Riders from the PNP, Philippine General Hospital (PGH), National Capital Region and Region 3 joined the ride.
The group left Camp Crame at around 6 a.m. and proceeded to Clark, Pampanga before heading back to the Quirino Grandstand where a short program and a boodle fight were held.
The group arrived in Manila at past 10 a.m., attracting motorcycle enthusiasts along the way.
The riders paid P3,000 each for registration.
Albayalde said they raised P1.3 million, which will be given to the PGH children’s cancer ward.
Ana Patricia Alcasabas, PGH cancer section head, thanked Albayalde and the PNP for the donation, which she said would go a long way in saving the lives of the children.
Albayalde said they would organize another ride, which aims to promote peace in Mindanao.
