MANILA, Philippines — Two alleged robbers were killed in an alleged shootout in Tondo, Manila before dawn yesterday.

Vanessa Joy Cruz, 33, appeared at the Manila Police District (MPD) Station 1 and reported that two men on a motorcycle robbed her along Capulong street at around 1:45 a.m.

Cruz’s relative also called the Criminal Intelligence and Detection Group, which coordinated with the station.

MPD Station 1 commander Superintendent Jay Dimaandal ordered chokepoints set up in the area.

A team led by Senior Inspector Dave Abarra and Chief Inspector Nino Briones spotted the suspects cruising along Marala street at around 3:30 a.m. The two men reportedly shot at the lawmen.
