Hungry man kills 3 siblings

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Three children were reportedly killed by their brother after they failed to prepare food for him in Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Saturday.

John Mark Melebo, 21, reportedly used a knife in stabbing and slashing the throats of his brothers John Renz, 14; Alejandro, 5, and Gregor, one. Their sister Jenny Rose, 9, was able to escape.

Melebo was furious when he found out that no food was prepared for him at their house in Barangay Marcelo, according to Inspector Charmae de Paz, spokesperson for the Negros Occidental police.

The children’s father Morito was attending a parents-teachers’ meeting at a nearby school during the incident. Their mother was working as a house helper in Manila.

Authorities have yet to determine if the suspect was suffering from mental illness. – Emmanuel Tupas
