John Unson - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A councilor in Sarangani was among four drug suspects killed in alleged shootouts with police officers in the past two days.

Ronilo Mamaclay, a member of the Sangguniang Bayan of Kiamba town, and Frederick Orobia, a barangay councilman, fired at police operatives serving search warrants at their respective residences yesterday, according to Superintendent Aldrin Gonzales, Soccsksargen police spokesman.

Gonzales said the slain local officials are ”high-value” drug personalities in Sarangani.

Jerry Casimiro, alias Otoy, and a certain Lando allegedly traded shots with police officers who posed as buyers of shabu in drug busts in Barangay Ibabang Dupay, Lucena, Quezon yesterday and Aya, San Jose, Batangas on Thursday, respectively.

Meanwhile, police have yet to determine the motive for the killing of Froilan Agbayani, 70, chairman of Barangay Sto. Domingo in Sual, Pangasinan yesterday. He was meeting with farmers when he was shot by men wearing ski masks.

Dominador Lucas, an employee of the Department of Environment and Natural Rersources, was driving his car on his way to work when motorcycle-riding men shot him in Barangay Dela Paz, Taytay, Rizal also yesterday. – Eva Visperas, Ed Amoroso, Non Alquitran, Emmanuel Tupas
