MANILA, Philippines — At least 30 commuters were hospitalized following a collision involving two buses along EDSA in Quezon City yesterday morning.

Probers said at around 7:50 a.m., a Baclaran Metro link bus, driven by Mark Angelo Hugo, 27, hit a Vil 5000 bus whose driver had stopped along EDSA’s southbound lane near the Metro Rail Transit Line’s GMA station to allow passengers to get off.

At least 30 passengers were rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center and Quezon City General Hospital for treatment.

The crash led to heavy traffic along the highway.

Meanwhile, two trucks collided along the Batasan-San Mateo Road in Barangay Batasan Hills at around 10:50 p.m. on Wednesday.

A dump truck carrying gravel, driven by Diomar Bombot, 26, hit a cargo truck containing deformed steel bars while plying the road towards Montalban.

Police said the dump truck’s brakes allegedly failed and the vehicle pushed the cargo truck toward the other side of the road. The cargo truck hit the concrete fence of a church.

The dump truck also went over the center island and damaged a street lamp. Its fuel tank was detached due to the accident.

No injuries were reported.
