5 Metro Manila police directors get awards for 'exemplary service'
MANILA, Philippines — The five police district directors in Metro Manila and 16 other policemen received awards for their exemplary service to the public, an official said yesterday.
National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Camilo Cascolan expressed hope that the awards would motivate them to perform their job better.
Manila Police District director Chief Superintendent Joel Coronel and his men were lauded for their performance rendered during the Iglesia ni Cristo’s “Worldwide walk for poverty,” which was attended by at least 35,000 INC members on May 6.
Members of the Sta. Ana police in Manila were also commended for their performance against crime.
Southern Police District director Chief Superintendent Tomas Apolinario and his men were awarded the Medalya ng Kasanayan for the neutralization of Rogelio Lava, one of the suspects in the killing of Harivelle Charmine Hernando.
Chief Superintendents Reynaldo Biay, Clifton Empiso and Joselito Esquivel, directors of the Eastern, Northern and Quezon City Police Districts, respectively, were also cited for implementing security measures during Labor Day protests.
