2 Iranians, 33 others nabbed for drugs

MANILA, Philippines — Two Iranians and at least 33 others were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in Metro Manila in the past two days.

In Quezon City, Amir Gharehgozlou, 30, and Omid Hosseini, 37, were collared in a drug bust along Delos Reyes street in Barangay Milgarosa at dawn yesterday.

Gharehgozlou and Hosseini allegedly yielded nine sachets of shabu and the marked money.

Probers said Gharehgozlou turned himself in to authorities under Oplan Tokhang last year but continued his illegal drug activities.

Couple Orlando and Marites Opena and their cohort Raul Absalon, 47, were apprehended in a sting along Yakal street in Barangay Capri.

Seven other drug suspects were rounded up by police in separate operations.

They were Kenn Joseph Cruz, 34; Catherine Bauer, 42; Danny Ferrer; Johonny Gaspi, 45; Reymark Caramoan, 25; Teresa Handomon, and Angelito Villanueva, 19.

The suspects were nabbed in Barangays Milagrosa, Holy Spirit, Balintawak, Kaligayahan, North Fairview and South Triangle.

Police said they recovered from the suspects shabu, drug paraphernalia and the marked money.

In Caloocan City, 23 persons believed to be involved in drugs were arrested by anti-narcotics operatives.

Four of the suspects were identified as Glenn Marasigan, Ernesto de Silva Jr., Vicente Berano and Carlos Berano.

They were arrested after they were caught allegedly engaged in a pot session in Barangay 28.

 Police said they confiscated 14 sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia from the suspects.

Seven others – Joel Alonzo Sr., Judie Buenafe, Ariel Ada, Joel Alonzo Jr., Jeffrey delos Reyes, Apolonio Balleres and Ronnie Villareal – were collarred for alleged drug possession and illegal gambling in Barangay 176 in Bagong Silang. – Marc Jayson Cayabyab
