Ex-US Navy officer held for rape of teen

MANILA, Philippines — Police have arrested a retired US Navy officer for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl in Quezon City.

Manuel Llara, 56, was nabbed at his house at New Haven Village along Bangar street in Barangay Kaligayahan on Friday afternoon.

Llara’s arrest came after the girl and her parents sought police assistance.

The victim told probers that the suspect brought her to an apartelle where she was  allegedly raped.

The girl was supposed to pick up balloons for a party at a mall in Fairview when the incident happened.

She said Llara threatened to kill her if she refused to have sex with him.

The suspect is being held by police on rape charges.

Student nabbed for ‘sextortion’

Meanwhile, police apprehended a Grade 12 student for allegedly threatening to upload a 22-year-old woman’s sex video on social media if she would not agree to a one-night stand with him in Makati on Saturday.

Ryan Boiser Dizon, 19, was arrested in an entrapment operation at the corner of EDSA and Arnaiz Avenue.

Jeomary Posadas Yaya complained to police that Dizon also asked for a cell phone, specifically a Samsung J5.

The suspect was nabbed shortly after Yaya handed over the mobile phone to him, police said. – With Ghio Ong
