MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has collected fewer campaign trash following the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on Monday.

Francis Martinez, parkway clearing group head of the MMDA, said they hauled three truckloads of garbage compared to 25 trucks in the 2016 polls.

MMDA personnel have been busy taking down campaign posters and tarpaulins posted in different areas in the metropolis.

The MMDA collected campaign leaflets, sample ballots and food packs from the polling precincts.

Martinez noted that some candidates helped MMDA workers in removing campaign materials after the canvassing of votes.

The MMDA said the cleanup drive was conducted in Manila, Muntinlupa, Parañaque, Quezon City, Caloocan, Valenzuela, San Juan, Pasay and Taguig as well as the municipality of Pateros.
