QC fire leaves 25 families homeless

MANILA, Philippines — Twenty-five  families were left homeless when a fire broke out at a residential area in Quezon City on Saturday.

The blaze, which started at around 7:44 a.m., destroyed at least 20 houses in Barangay Old Balara, city fire marshal Senior Superintendent Manuel Manuel said.

One of the residents, Virgilio Caguica, 35, was treated for a laceration on his left eyebrow.

The fire started at the three-story house owned by Maring Millabas.

Manuel said they have yet to determine the cause of the fire.

Damage to property was placed at P100,000.

On Sunday night, a fire hit a restaurant at the Eastwood Mall in Barangay Bagumbayan, in Quezon City.

The blaze started at the stockroom area of the restaurant.- Romina Cabrera
