Siblings held for Quezon town councilor’s slay
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Two men tagged in the killing of Aristeo Ilao, councilor of Sariaya town in Quezon, were arrested in a follow-up operation on Thursday.
Ramil Manaloto, 54, alias Amir, and his brother Reynaldo, 50, were collared in Barangay Pinagbakuran at around 1:30 p.m. A bloodied t-shirt and jeans that Ramil wore as well as a caliber .38 revolver were recovered at the scene.
The suspects are Ilao’s brothers-in-law, who admitted killing the councilor due to a grudge. They claimed Ilao reneged on his promise to provide them a good job.
Chief Superintendent Guillermo Eleazar, Calabarzon police director, said the case is considered solved with the arrest of the siblings.
Ilao was at his house in Barangay Sampaloc 2 when he was shot. – Michelle Zoleta
