More aftershocks hit Catanduanes
LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines —Three more aftershocks from the magnitude 6 earthquake that hit Catanduanes on Saturday were recorded yesterday.
Renato Solidum, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) director, said at least 45 aftershocks were recorded on Sunday. Twelve aftershocks were also recorded in Catanduanes and Albay shortly after the quake struck on Saturday.
Jun Bonita, Phivolcs’ Seismological Observation and Earthquake Prediction Division science research analyst, said a magnitude 6 earthquake could generate aftershocks for up to two weeks.– Celso Amo
