MANILA, Philippines — Five suspected drug personalities were killed in separate incidents in Bulacan, Cebu and Cavite on Wednesday. 

Raymond Omegan, 18, who was detained on drug charges in San Jose del Monte, was in a police vehicle to attend inquest proceedings when he reportedly managed to remove his handcuffs, grabbed the gun of one his escorts, tried to escape and engaged pursuing police officers in a shootout.

Joseph Oralde, 44; Romeo Oralde, 34, and Israel Patunob, 37, reportedly drew their guns when they sensed they had sold shabu to police officers who posed as buyers in Sitio Panaghiusa, Barangay Duljo Fatima, Cebu City.

Around 500 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P5.9 million and three guns were recovered from the fatalities, police said. 

In Cavite, Robin Eusebio, 48, resisted arrest and fired at anti-drug operatives during a sting in Barangay Pasong Camachile, General Trias.

A sachet of shabu and P1,000 in marked money were recovered from the fatality, police said. – Emmanuel Tupas, Clyd Avila/The Freeman
