9 hurt as car crashes into restaurant
MANILA, Philippines — A car crashed into a restaurant at a mall in Barangay Alabang in Muntinlupa City, leaving nine persons, including a nine-month-old baby, injured on Sunday night.
A family of eight were dining at Gerry’s Grill restaurant when a Toyota Innova driven by Bolivar Torres, 40, plowed through them.
Torres was about to park his car when it suddenly accelerated and rammed the glass wall of the restaurant, police said.
Probers said Torres, who was also hurt, accidentally stepped on the gas pedal.
The victims were rushed to the nearby Asian Hospital for treatment.
The family did not press charges against Torres as they agreed to an amicable settlement.
Torres shouldered the hospital bill of the victims.
The incident went viral on social media after motoring journalist James Deakin posted the video on Facebook.
