Metro Manila sizzles, hottest so far

MANILA, Philippines — The heat in Metro Manila reached 35 degrees Celsius yesterday, the hottest recorded so far this year in the capital, according to the state weather bureau.

Ariel Rojas, weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, said the warmest temperature was registered at the PAGASA Science Garden in Quezon City at around 1 p.m.

He said temperatures are expected to rise in the coming days as the easterlies – warm and moist air from the Pacific – strengthens.

“In Metro Manila, we expect the maximum temperature to hit 37 to 38 degrees Celsius this month,” Rojas told The STAR.

He said the easterlies would continue to bring hot and humid weather in the country this weekend.

No weather disturbance is forecast to affect the country in the next three to five days, Rojas added.
