The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The rampaging Rufrance/PNP stretched its perfect run to 4-0, while Elijah Homes/A. Lopez racked up its third straight win in the Barangay Labangon Basketball Association (BLBA) 2018 Season First Conference on Wednesday night at the Labangon Sports Compex.

Former pro star Roger Yap dropped 22 points, while commercial veteran Baltazar Jueves banged in 16 markers as Rufrance downed Trangia Sportswear, 102-85, in the battle of unbeaten teams to grab the solo lead in a 12-team field.

In the other game, top gunner Jercules Tangkay was held off to a measly eight point but Jonel Villarosa stepped up bigtime, unloading 24 points as Elijah Homes of team owner Jeson L. Guardo decimated PVL Construction, 136-105.

Robert Abasolo and Orly Alvarado scored 21 each, while Rosal and Resty Getubig connived for 22 markers for the Ramesh Mulchandani-mentored Elijah Homes, which left PVL Construction groping for form after racing to a hot 43-28 start.

Elijah Homes further buried PVL after three quarters, 98-75, on the way to earn a share of second place in the standings with Trangia Sportswear on identical 3-1 slates.

In the other game, CIT Alumni snapped out of its three-game jinx but had to pass through the wringer first before pulling off a 96-95 cliffhanger over Bon-Ami.
