Cop in trouble for indiscriminate firing

Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A rookie policeman found himself in trouble after indiscriminately firing his gun during a quarrel with his wife in Pandacan, Manila early yesterday morning.

Police Officer 1 Jaime Marcos III of the Manila Police District Station 10 was transferred to the MPD administrative holding unit after his wife filed a complaint with the women and children’s protection desk.

Ciriaco Rodas, 27, told Senior Police Officer 1 Byron Orate of the MPD general assignment and investigation section that he was sleeping at his house on Balagtas street when a slug fell on his stomach at around 3:15 a.m.

Marcos apologized to Rodas after the incident.

Prior to this, police said Marcos and his wife were engaged in a heated argument.

Probers said charges of indiscriminate firing would be filed against Marcos.
