Cabbie held for scamming ‘vlogger’

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The taxi driver caught in a viral video allegedly scamming a “vlogger” was apprehended by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) yesterday.

LTFRB member Aileen Lizada said they apprehended Frederick Cayanan – featured in a video uploaded by vlogger Haley Dasovich on a video uploaded to her Youtube page – at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1.

He was caught on video asking Dasovich to pay P500 for a ride from the airport terminal to Makati.

Cayanan supposedly engaged enforcers in a brief chase while trying to elude apprehension.

Lizada said the taxi operator, Benjamin Porras, supposedly a member of the Philippine National Police, would be issued a show cause order over the incident.

The operator would be held liable as it was found that the Cayanan was using a fare scheme meant for a tourist shuttle car instead of a taxi unit.

He could be fined up to P120,000 for supposed colorum operations.

Lizada said they would recommend the cancellation of Cayanan’s driver’s license to the Land Transportation Office.
