PNP opens one-stop shop for gun licenses

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) opened to the public yesterday a one-stop shop to centralize the processing of firearm licenses.

The three-story building, located at the EDSA gate of Camp Crame, was built on a budget of P72 million.

It has offices necessary for the application and renewal of license to own and possess firearm, license to exercise security profession and permit to carry firearms outside residence.

PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa graced the inauguration of the building, which he said would help expedite the application and renewal of firearms licenses.

Under one roof are offices for the PNP Directorate for Intelligence, Crime Laboratory and Health Service and Finance Service.

These departments will process clearances, drug testing, neuropsychiatric exams and payment of fees.

The building also has a parking area for clients so they no longer have to move around Camp Crame in search of a vacant parking slot.

To avoid corruption, Dela Rosa said all fees will be paid at a Land Bank of the Philippines branch located in the police camp.
