New school buildings inaugurated in Quezon City
MANILA, Philippines — Officials of the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Quezon City government led the inauguration of new buildings at a local high school yesterday.
Education Secretary Leonor Briones joined Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte and former House speaker and incumbent fourth district Rep. Feliciano Belmonte Jr. at the blessing and inauguration of new buildings at Don Alejandro Roces Sr. Science and Technology High School.
Among those that were inaugurated were the new four-story, 16-classroom building that will be used by senior high school students.
The officials also inaugurated the renovated school auditorium and three-story Alternative Learning System building with sports facilities.
The three projects cost over P121 million, sourced from DepEd’s Basic Education Facilities Fund and the 2016 national budget.
The officials also led the groundbreaking of the four-story technical-vocational laboratory worshop worth P91.6 million. The building is expected to be completed in December.
During the inauguration, Briones expressed gratitude to the city government for its support.
The vice mayor stressed the need to provide facilities for students, especially at the senior high school level.
“The buildings are very specialized. What we are constructing are senior high school buildings specific to the K-12 curriculum,” she said.
She stressed the need to establish greater coordination between DepEd and the local government units to ensure that all the facilities needed by schools would be provided as soon as possible.
