Ex-NPA leader shot in Samar

CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines — A former New People’s Army commander operating in Samar and Northern Samar is fighting for his life after she was shot by unidentified men in Poblacion, Matuguinao town.

Yolanda Loberando, with aliases of Adang and Wilma, was shot in the shoulder and stomach while standing near her house in Barangay Aringit.

Loberando, who surrendered in 2008, is now a secretary in Barangay Diit.

Probers are looking into politics as the motive for the gun attack as the victim was reportedly planning to run as barangay chairwoman.
