Small-town lottery sales hit P1.95 billion – PCSO
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) yesterday said sales from its small-town lottery (STL) operations continued to increase in recent months.
PCSO general manager Alexander Balutan said the STL sales in February hit P1.95 billion, higher by four percent from the P1.87 billion last year.
He attributed the sales to the increase in the number of authorized agent corporations (AACs) that operate STL outlets nationwide.
“In February 2017, PCSO launched its expanded STL. From 18 AACs, the board approved 56 until the addition of even more AACs... At present, there are 83 operating AACs,” the agency said.
“In May that same year, STL gained an average earning of more than P1 billion,” it added.
STL is a regular game by PCSO authorized by the national government through Republic Act 1169.
It was implemented to address illegal numbers games in communities such as jueteng.
The PCSO said it collected over P15.75 billion from STL operations last year, up from just P6.5 billion in 2016.
