LRT-1 guard sues kagawad for attack

MANILA, Philippines — A security guard assigned to the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) filed a complaint against a barangay councilman for allegedly beating him up and threatening to kill him on Saturday afternoon.

In his complaint, Celestino Caparas of Kaizen Security Agency said he was on his way back to his post after taking a break when he noticed a motorcycle parked on the sidewalk in front of the stairs of the LRT-1 Bambang station at around 2:30 p.m.

Caparas asked the man who claimed to own the motorcycle to move it. The man, who introduced himself as Barangay 332 kagawad John Edilmir Asistio, told the guard he was the toughest man in the area and reportedly attacked him.

Senior Police Officer 1 Byron Orate, Manila Police District general assignment and investigation section investigator, said charges of physical injuries and grave threat were filed before the city prosecutor’s office against Asistio.
