14 hurt in Ilocos smashup

TUGUEGARAO, Philippines — Fourteen persons were injured when a car hit two motorcycles and two tricycles in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur on Saturday.

Jester John Almero, 25, could have fallen asleep as he was driving at around noon in Barangay Pug-os, according to case investigator Police Officer 3 Prospero Cardenas.

Tricycle driver Jorly Salarzon and motorcycle drivers Arjay Sapon and Santiago Sumicbay as well as their 11 passengers were taken to different hospitals for treatment.

The driver of another tricycle George Aganad was not hurt in the accident.

Responding police officers arrested Almero.
