LPA to bring rains in Eastern Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines — Residents of Eastern Mindanao have been advised against possible flash floods or landslides due to a low-pressure area.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the weather system was spotted 1,105 kilometers east of Mindanao, and was forecast to enter the Philippine area of responsibility yesterday.
PAGASA said the low-pressure area has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.
The trough of the low-pressure area was forecast to to bring light to heavy rains over the Caraga and Davao regions in the next 24 hours.
Last week, Tropical Storm Basyang dumped heavy rains in the Visayas and Mindanao, triggering flash floods and landslides that left 15 people dead.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said the northeast monsoon would continue to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains in Ilocos Norte, Batanes and the Babuyan group of islands.
PAGASA warned the public against rough to very rough seas in Northern Luzon due to the northeast monsoon.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience warm weather with isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms.
