Drug suspect slain, 11 others arrested

MANILA, Philippines — A drug user was killed while 11 others were arrested in Luzon and the Caraga region in Mindanao on Thursday and Friday.

The drug user’s two children reported to the police that he sexually molested them, but he resisted arrest and fired at police officers and social welfare officers who went to their house in Barangay San Miguel, Bula, Camarines Sur, Chief Inspector Edgar Butch Moraleda, Bula police chief, said.

Moraleda said the suspect had surrendered under Oplan Tokhang last year, but continued to use illegal drugs. 

A 15-year-old boy and six other persons were arrested in a sting in Purok 5, Barangay Taft, Surigao City.

Marlon Villasor, 38, a teacher at the  Butuan City Central School, was collared for selling a sachet of shabu to an undercover agent at a pension house in Barangay J.P. Rizal.

Fish port laborer Rolando Astillero and  Rebecca Furing, 46, were arrested in Barangay Zone 4, Bulan and Buenavista in Irosin, respectively, in Sorsogon.

Indian Mikhail Arvindbhai Parmar was nabbed for peddling dried marijuana leaves in Barangay Tamag, Vigan, Ilocos Sur.

Meanwhile, a fisherman recovered a mug containing around 320 grams of suspected shabu wrapped in plastic that was washed ashore in Barangay Puro, Magsingal also in Ilocos Sur.

Senior Inspector Bryan Tacazob, Magsingal police chief, said the mug has Chinese markings.

The substance was sent to the crime laboratory in Manila for analysis. – Ben Serrano, Raymund Catindig
