Tanauan City employee shot dead

BATANGAS — A 50-year-old employee of the Tanauan City Hall was gunned down by still unidentified suspects on Saturday morning, police said.
 
Police identified the victim as Reynaldo Dela Cueva, a resident of Barangay Banjo East, Tanauan City and a member of the Civil Security Unit of the Tanauan City Hall.
 
According to the Tanauan City police, they received a phone call that a shooting incident transpired at Cambridge Subdivision in Barangay Darasa Tanauan City around 8:15 a.m.
 
Initial investigation said that Dela Cueva was about to feed his cow at the grassy portion of the place when the suspects alighted from a white sedan and shot the victim several times.
 
Dela Cueva received multiple gunshots before falling in an open canal.
 
Another vehicle, a white Nissan, served as a backup of the culprits at the entrance gate adjacent to the guard house.
 
Before fleeing, the suspects took the vehicle of the victim, a black Toyota Pajero, with plate number MMM-99.
 
Recovered from the crime scene were two cartridges of .45 caliber and seven cartridges of 5.56 caliber or Armalite rifle.
 
Police have yet to identify the personalities and the motive behind the incident.
