2 NPA rebels surrender
MANILA, Philippines — Two members of the Guerrilla Front 27 of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Compostela Valley surrendered to the Army’s 66th Infantry Battalion (IB) last Friday.
The rebels also turned over a caliber .45 pistol, a caliber .38 revolver, an improvised explosive device and various types of ammunition.
The military said two NPA rebels also surrendered in the province earlier last week.
“We have been successfully reducing the manpower and equipage of our adversaries. This is manifested by our notable accomplishments in 2017,” Lt. Col. Palmer Parungao of the 66th IB said.
Parungao said 319 NPA rebels were neutralized and 44 firearms were recovered in the province last year.
