5 drug suspects slain in Bulacan

MALOLOS, Philippines  —  Five suspected drug pushers were killed in stings in Bulacan on Wednesday.

Sonny Pablo Torres allegedly shot it out with anti-drug operatives in Barangay Look in this city; Arwin Martin, alias Daboy, and an alias Popeye in Sta. Cruz IV, San Jose del Monte; Rommel Mercado, alias Nognog, in Sta. Maria, and a man who has yet to be identified in Caniogan, Calumpit.

Senior Superintendent Romeo Caramat Jr., Bulacan police director, said 95 other suspects were arrested in anti-drug operations in 61 areas, three in raids and service of warrants of arrest and one at a police checkpoint.

Caramat said 277 sachets of shabu weighing 170.949 grams and 12 sachets of marijuana with a combined estimated street value of P409,500 were recovered from the suspects.

He said the suspects also yielded two caliber .38 revolvers, five improvised guns and a grenade.

4 others killed

Meanwhile, two persons were gunned down in Cagayan and Batangas also on Wednesday.

Farmer Ronald Pasion was on his way home after a  drinking spree at his uncle’s house in Barangay Asinga-via, Baggao, Cagayan when he was shot.

Julius Laguna was playing basketball when he was shot at close range in Barangay Masaya, Rosario, Batangas.

Two unidentified men were found dead in Barangay Lankaan, Dasmariñas, Cavite and San Rafael, Rodriquez, Rizal also on Wednesday.

Police said the body of one of the fatalities was found stuffed in a garbage bag.

Investigations into the killings are ongoing.
