6 hurt in Batangas stabbing

MANILA, Philippines — Six persons were wounded when a man stabbed them in Lemery, Batangas on Friday.

Responding police officers were compelled to shoot Vember Garcia, 34, after he resisted arrest.

Aside from the suspect, taken to the hospital for treatment were Pablo Maneja, 76; Rosemarie Mendoza, 73; Jessica Maneja, 48; Robelyn Baldivia, 31; Charise Mendoza, 18, and a 15-year-old boy whose name was not immediately available.

Reports said the victims were walking in Barangay Maligaya at past 1 p.m. when Garcia attacked them with an icepick.
