Rody: Don’t display my photos
DAVAO CITY, Philippines — President Duterte does not want his photos or paintings displayed at the so-called Malacañang of the South in this city.
“I should not have any portrait here,” the President said as he pointed to the empty frames on the wall of the receiving area of the presidential guest house at the back of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) depot.
Duterte visited the newly renovated guest house before dawn yesterday after hosting a Christmas party for journalists based in this city.
The President ordered Jhopee Avanceña-Agustin, Internal House Affairs Office undersecretary, to display only the photos of Filipino heroes such as Dagohoy and Lapu-Lapu .
Duterte said he does not want any renovation or construction of new structures in the compound.
“It is not necessary,” the President said, adding that he wanted the facility to remain simple.
Duterte used the guest house as his temporary office shortly after he was proclaimed president.
Former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo also held meetings at the guest house, which the DPWH built during her term.
